Karma was found in the area of Summerview.  She is a young collie X (with a little husky because she has one blue eye).  She is a gentle girl and loves people.  She is about a year old.  She would love a home where she will get lots of exercise.  We suspect Karma may have been used to riding in a truck because she watches trucks pass when she is being walked.

Jade  ADOPTED

Jade was found on Hwy 22 eating a carcass with Joker who has been adopted.  She was very sick when she was brought to the shelter but soon got well with medication for an upset stomach.  It isn't surprising that she was unwell considering whet she had been eating!  Jade really deserves a loving home where she will get lots of attention and exercise and where she will be trained.

Jade has been spayed

Sheba

Courtesy listing

Sheba is a very affectionate loving dog who needs a home with lots of space and a big yard. She is about 1.5 years old and was adopted from the Pincher Creek Humane Society in September 2007. Unfortunately, we are unable to keep her at this time as we are moving to Medicine Hat. She has had all her shots and has been spayed. She is house broken and has passed her “chewy” stage. She is great with other dogs and children over 10 (I am just afraid she might jump up on a smaller child and knock him/her down). She responds to “sit”, and comes when you call her name. We are still working on the game of “fetch” as she doesn’t quite bring the ball back. She requires a lot of attention and loves to have her tummy rubbed. Please call Cynthia 403 634 5203 for further inquiries.

Bonny is about a year to 18 months old.  She is a collie X with perhaps some sheltie/Lassie in her.  She is very playful and just loves a cuddle.  She is good with children and other dogs.

Jupiter ADOPTED

Jupiter is a big girl, about a year old.  She is a lab X.  She is very friendly and would love to have a forever home.  She was found out of town and her owner could not be found.  Jupiter is learning to walk on a leash and to sit.  She is very lively but eager to learn.  Jupiter has taken well to training and although she is still very boisterous, is a fast learner.

Clyde  ADOPTED

Bonny and Clyde were brought to the shelter because they were running loose in town.  Their owner has not come to pick them up so they are now available for adoption.  They appear to be brother and sister  and about 18 months old.

Jack  ADOPTED

Jack came to the shelter just before Christmas. He is part Australian Cattle Dog.  He had had a hard time and we think he is blind in one eye.  He has a bit of a limp which we believe was an old injury to his front leg.  The vet checked him over and said he would be OK.  Jack is about a year to 18 months old and is a very friendly dog.  He loves a cuddle.  Jack really deserves a forever home after a tough start in life.

Anubis and Orpheus

Anubis' owner was able to take him home.

Orpheus is now Wyatt and has found his forever home!

These lovely dogs were brought to the shelter because their owner couldn't find a place to live that would accept pets.  They are father and son.  Anubis was born on March 7, 2005 (he is 2.5 years old).  He has been neutered.  Orpheus was born on 19 December 2006 so is a year old.  He has not been neutered yet.  Their mother was Australian shepherd/blue heeler X and their father was chow/ridgeback/lab X.  Anubis is a quiet fellow and is leash trained.  Orpheus has more energy, being younger.  They are used to being outside a lot of the time and would be ideally suited to an acreage as long as they had access to the house at night.  They travel well in a car and get on well with other dogs.  They know certain commands - sit, paw, cuddles.  It would be wonderful if these dogs could be adopted together.

Ted ADOPTED

Ted is a lively young fellow.  He is about six months old and full of fun.  He has lots of energy and would be best suited to a home with space for him to run.

Ted is in foster care at the moment so if you are interested in adopting him, please call the shelter in advance.

Reba  ADOPTED

Found west of Ft Macleod

This lovely girl was picked up just west of Ft Macleod on the highway and brought to the shelter.  She is less than a year old and very friendly.  Have you lost this dog or do you recognise her?  Reba has not been claimed and is now available for adoption.

Update:  Reba is happily settled in her forever home.  She came to visit us at the shelter and showed off her new owners.

Angie ADOPTED

Angie was cared for by some kind people when she turned up at their acreage. They looked after her but couldn't find her owner.  She is about 9 months to a year old.  She has a sweet nature and gets on well with children and other dogs.  She won't get much bigger.  Angie seems to have had a hard time in her short life and would reward anyone who gave her a forever home with lots of love.

Lucy's puppies ADOPTED

These puppies were Lucy's and are now about four months old.

Tuffy ADOPTED

Tuffy is a three year old Lhasa apso or shih tzu X.  His owner couldn't keep him and brought him to the shelter.  He is good with children, other dogs and cats.  He is very frightened of his new surroundings and the big dogs barking.  Can anyone give him a forever home?

He was recognised by a former owner and has returned to his original home.

This dog was found on September 3 (Labour Day) tied to the fence of the Town Yard near the shelter.  He was in full sun without food, water or shade.  He was wearing a choke collar and could easily have strangled himself.  He was very frightened (see how his tail is between his legs) and demonstrated this by appearing to be aggressive.  When anyone approached he growled and raised his hackles.  I spoke to him gently and eventually he let me get close enough to give him food and water.  I sat on the ground near him, talking to him and gradually gained his confidence.  He licked my hand and let me stroke him.  We sat for some time then he let me untie his leash and I took him to the shelter.  He is very friendly and gentle although still wary of sudden noises or movements - NOT SURPRISING, EH?

Tinch ON TRIAL

THE PERSON WHO TOOK TINCH ON TRIAL HAS NOT PAID FOR HIM.  THIS IS THEFT

This little fellow is about three months old.  He is a Collie X and he is a very playful puppy.

Josie

OVER THE RAINBOW BRIDGE

Poor little Josie got very sick.  The vet thinks she had swallowed something before she came to the shelter and that damaged her inside.  I took her home to care for her but we couldn't save her.  On the vet's advice she was euthanized and her pain ended.

Please make sure your puppy doesn't swallow stones, toys, etc.
