HAPPY ENDINGS

SOME OF OUR HAPPY ENDINGS.

Boots

Boots came to the shelter just after Christmas. She was brought in by an elderly lady who could no longer take care of her.  This person had all Boots' papers in an envelope and she left this with her.  Imagine our surprise when we learned that Boots had been adopted from the shelter in 1997!  Poor Boots wasn't happy in a cage and didn't move much.  We were worried about her.  Then a kind person, who already had a number of cats, felt sorry for her and took her home.  Boots now has a wonderful new home which she shares with her new family.

Bob, now Max

Just to let you know that Bob (now called Max) had his first visit to the vet in Calgary and his limping problem is just a sprained knee.  He has taken to his new home really well, enjoying the use of a heated kennel, his own blanket in the house and he is learning to play.  However, when my son threw a ball for him the first time, he panicked and ran through the screen door.  When they get home from work he runs to greet them as if he has always lived there, and enjoys his morning and evening walks.  He has met the other pet in the home, Bailey the rabbit, and as yet has not harmed it.  They are introducing him slowly.  He had his rabies shot yesterday and goes in 2 weeks to be fixed.  All in all it is a good fit for the dog and the adopters.  He is not a good car traveller and has thrown up every time he has been in the car, so they are giving him short rides in the car to get him used to it because, when they travel, they want him with them.  Thanks.

S. H.

I can safely tell you that Max (formerly
Bob) is definitely a successful adoption.  It was a year ago this
weekend that we adopted Max, and he's settled in very well with our
family.  There was a bit of an adjustment period and we all had to take
some obedience classes but over-all, there have been no issues with Max.
I lovingly refer to him as my 60 lb lap dog!

We just had our first child a month ago on September 13th.  Max has been
a little upset with us in the change in lifestyle (his walks have been a
little shorter and little less often as we adjust).  The first night
home with the new baby, he sort of look at us as if to say, "well she's
not spending the night is she?!"  After that night, he's been fine and
has taken full advantage of sleeping on the bed or couch whenever no one
is looking. He is wonderful with the baby and loves to sit with her and
just be near her.

C.&K. B. (Calgary)

Hi there I promised you I would send you some pictures of Kiki (that's what we
called her she seems to listen to that name)
She's fitting in wonderfully at our house, she loves the kids, my husband &
myself and most of all she really loves Cosmo my other little guy. She plays
and rolls around with him all day long!
She had her shots and the vet says she is about 1 yr -1 1/2 yrs old if that and
a very healthy little dog.
She has her own bed as you can see in the pictures but usually sleeps in bed
with us and Cosmo at night time. She so loving and affectionate and wants to be
cuddled and petted all the time. (which she gets) She also loves going for
walks and waits patiently at the door when she gets her collar on.
She seems to eat any kind of dog food I give her and she has never pooped in
the house, but has piddled a few times, but she is catching on and goes to the
door most of the time now when she needs to go out.
I just want to thank you for letting me adopt the perfect dog, it seems as if
she's lived with us forever. (ps. she hasn't tried to run away yet either)
Thanks again.

R. S.

Update -

I just wanted to let you know that Kiki is wonderful and very smart.  She can sit, shake a paw, lay down and is learning to roll over. she's funny she'll do anything for a treat.
She has one little quirk - she can't stop scratching her eyes & ears. I've had her to the vet and everything is fine.  I don't think she's actually itchy - perhaps a defense mechanism from her previous owners?Otherwise she is spoiled rotten!
The puppy bed I bought her didn't last long she prefers the king size bed!
Thank you again.

Callie

Hi All,
Just a quick note to say that Callie is settling in quite well in her new surroundings and is getting along with her new friends Pinto (the cat) and Nina (the dog). Here attached is a picture, she is snoozing with Pinto above her. Thanks and good luck to the rest looking for homes.

The M's

Roxy, now Shadow

When we were in Medicine Hat in June of this year we adopted your  Roxie from the PetCetera location at the Pincher Creek Humane Society/ SPCA.  We re-named her "Shadow" and we must say that she is an  absolute delight and we are happy to have her in our lives.

Roxy/Shadow now lives on Vancouver Island

Babe

Babe was in the shelter for a while before she found the perfect home.  Now he has a friend to play with and lots of space to run.  Her owners think she is just the most wonderful dog!  Sometimes it takes a while for the right person to come along but we believe that there is a special someone for each of our dogs and cats.

 Sookie, now Indie

Hi, I just wanted to tell you how well Indie is doing, aka Sookie.  She is a fabulous dog, so gentle and loving with the kids, energetic, well behaved and tremendously smart.  She comes when called and always stays close.  She is perfect for our family and she gets tons of love and exercise.  A few mishaps with peeing and pooing in the house but with time I’m sure she will be able to control her bladder.  I’m mailing in the papers soon.  I would also like to tell you what a fabulous job you did training her, I could tell she had much love at the shelter.  When I get her spayed I will not ask for the $60.00 refund.  The shelter needs that money to keep doing your generous and kind work.

Best regards,

M. V.

Griz

Hey Guys

As promised here are a few pics of our bundle of fun.  Griz is settling in
really well, doing well with obedience classes and house training. We all love
her so much and enjoy her. She is so good with our children and has as much
energy as they do !! She is currently on medication for a bladder infection but
is otherwise very healthy. She will be having her first camping vacation in the
summer, she loves trails, going for walks and playing soccer. I will never
understand how anyone could have abandoned her but we're so grateful for her
being a part of our family.  Thank you for all the good work you do and finding
us the best puppy ever !!
Sharon xx

Archie - now Java

hi there we are sending pictures of Archie now renamed Java. java is a great pup that has filled our families' gap. he is funny and loving with a
personality that fills the room with laughter! at first he was shy and extra
cuddly but after a few hours at home he changed into a happy playful and
expressive pup! he has found his voice and uses it regularly. he was easy to
house train and sleeps with us every night. he has attached himself to our
other dog. they are never without each other. java brings a smile to everyone
that he meets and finds a way to always make us laugh! thanks to Margaret and
the Pincher Creek SPCA for bringing him into our lives. he is a blessing that
